Innovative observation technology has been applied to set up 23 long-term observation stations at places prone to debris flow and large scale landslide in Taiwan. Observation around the clock has been carried out. When a typhoon hits, mobile observation vehicles and mobile observation equipment are deployed along the path of the typhoon or areas struck by extremely heavy rain. Lines of individual stations are connected to form observation networks covering the whole basin. Each observation station can function independently and send real-time observational data back to the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation(ARDSWC) for data collection, processing, and display. The result can be used as a reference in decision making concerning debris flow and large scale landslide disaster prevention.
